July Started Quietly But Is Ending Much Louder

The old month of March saying goes something like, “In like a lion, out like a lamb.” July 2022 is much the opposite in regards to sales at Blooming Daisies Crafts. Orders began as a drip and the flow slowly picked up—especially Nurses caps! Just like all of the products on the website, research was done, materials were purchased, and prototypes were sewn. All of this to make sure that the best quality Nursing Caps could be offered to all healthcare workers—those with human patients as well as the animal variety. After all, we love our pets! So much so that Blooming Daisies Crafts has pledged to donate 20% of the proceeds of our Paw Patrol Nursing Cap to Big Cypress German Shepherd Rescue which “is dedicated to the rescue of homeless, abandoned, abused, and neglected German Shepherd dogs and puppies” here in Florida. It was through this rescue that my husband and I were lucky enough to adopt our sweet girl, Rosy. She is sized like a lion, but is sweet as a lamb.

The Blooming Daisies Crafts’ “Christmas in July Sale” was a success and added to the “out like a lion”. Orders are being “fulfilled” as I finish sewing the merchandise today. The sale was successful in that Blooming Daisies Crafts enjoyed more sales but also by introducing Blooming Daisies Crafts to more cross stitchers! It is exciting to be made known to more people that enjoy the same interest in this special hobby. And that they that see the value in the merchandise offered on Blooming Daisies Crafts.

As we move into midsummer, it begs the question: Have you spent much of this summer stitching? I try to spend between 30 minutes to 1 hour stitching each day. Many people dedicate more time and, therefore, more energy, too. Life is busy and this hobby is supposed to be relaxing. Cross stitch is definitely a hobby that helps me to chill before I go to bed. My sister works on her Gnome Sweet Gnome cross stitch until her Corgi demands to sit on her lap and cuddle. How cute is that? Rosy would like to be cuddled in that manner but she does not quite fit on my lap or the couch, so, I cuddle both my girls while sitting on the floor with them. This is not conducive to cross stitching. The afternoon thunderstorms (and fireworks) scare our Kelpie, Bella, so while she finds solace hiding under my recliner foot rest, I get some quality time sewing on my WIP and sweating from the blanket I drape over her (and me). It is bittersweet.

This blog will be published just two days before the first day of August and my husband and I are planning our next vacation. Not really a vacation. We will be making a weekend trip to meet grandchild #7 with two added bonuses: his two older sisters, Number 5 and Number 6. As grandparents, we are really looking forward to this trip. The girls have such fun and outrageous personalities. They are absolutely adorable (there is no bias on my part at all) and we do not get to see them often.

Stitching wise, I am still plugging away on my Dimensions Christmas Beach Chairs WIP. While I have not made a lot of progress, I have made some. Slow and steady is my motto. Honestly, you know it has not always been my motto but I stand by those words now! I still have a hopeful “completion date” around the end of August, or mid-September. Definitely in time to get it hung before Christmas, 2022. Yes, 2022. A girl has to have some goals.

Now the real dilemma: after the Christmas Beach Chairs, do I go back and continue stitching my Christmas Wreath or pull out and begin the Flag Draped Eagle for my son and his wife? Maybe the Eagle needs to be pulled out and add it to the cross stitching bull pen! Look at me with the baseball terms! Think of cross stitch as one of the “joys of summer”!

This week Blooming Daisies Crafts is going to be highlighting Mickey!
